Web accessibility

A website everyone can use, and that meets the EAA

Web accessibility means everyone can use your website, including people with a visual, motor or cognitive disability. Since 28 June 2025 the European Accessibility Act (EAA) applies to many digital services, such as online shops and online booking. Wisefrog tests your website against WCAG 2.1 level AA, fixes the issues and helps your team keep it that way.

What we do

From first scan to accessible website

You choose where to start. Many organisations begin with a quick scan, so they know where they stand before they invest.

  • Quick scan and audit

    Know where you stand

We test your website against WCAG 2.1 level AA, with automated tests and manual checks using a keyboard and screen reader. You get a report with the issues, ordered by impact. Quick scan: fixed price on request.

  • Fixing your website

    Issues resolved

Our design and development team fixes the issues we found: contrast, keyboard use, forms, alt texts, heading structure and more. Then we test again, so you know it works.

  • Accessible new website

    Right from the start

Building a new website or online shop? We design and build it to WCAG 2.1 AA from the start. That is easier and cheaper than repairing it afterwards.

  • Training and accessibility statement

    Keeping it accessible

We train your marketing and content team to publish accessibly, and help you write the accessibility statement that shows how your website is doing.

European Accessibility Act

Does your website need to meet the EAA?

The European Accessibility Act (EU Directive 2019/882) has applied since 28 June 2025. Whether it applies to you depends on the services you offer and the size of your organisation. Not sure? We work it out together in a quick scan.

Who
Among others online shops, online booking, banking and payment services, e-books and consumer telecom services.
Exemption
Micro-enterprises providing services (fewer than 10 employees and no more than €2 million turnover) are exempt.
Standard
The European standard EN 301 549 refers to WCAG 2.1 level AA. Meeting it usually covers the requirements for websites.

Why accessibility pays off

An accessible website isn’t just an obligation. It makes your website better for everyone.

  • You comply with the European Accessibility Act
  • More visitors can use your website and buy from you
  • Clearer copy and forms convert better
  • Good structure helps Google and AI search engines
  • Less risk of complaints and enforcement
  • You show your brand takes everyone seriously

Frequently asked questions

Questions about web accessibility and the EAA

What is web accessibility?

Web accessibility means everyone can use your website or app, including people with a disability. Think of enough contrast, full keyboard use, good alt texts for images and forms a screen reader can read out.

What is the European Accessibility Act (EAA)?

The EAA is a European directive (2019/882) that sets accessibility requirements for products and services, including online shops, online booking and banking services. The requirements have applied since 28 June 2025. Micro-enterprises providing services are exempt.

Which standard does my website have to meet?

The EAA refers to the European standard EN 301 549, which uses WCAG 2.1 level AA as the basis for websites. If your website meets WCAG 2.1 AA, you usually meet the requirements.

What is the difference between a quick scan and an audit?

A quick scan gives fast insight into the main issues on a few key pages. A full audit tests every WCAG 2.1 AA success criterion on a representative set of pages and delivers a detailed report.

How long does it take to make my website accessible?

That depends on the number of issues and how your website is built. After the scan or audit you get a plan ordered by impact, so you fix the most important things first.

What is an accessibility statement?

An accessibility statement is a public statement showing how accessible your website is, what doesn’t work well yet and how visitors can reach you. We help you write it based on the audit.
